We never silently switch formats or destroy detail to hit a number. A very small target may not be achievable at the original dimensions.
For compression, this is the lowest allowed JPG / WebP quality. PNG stays PNG; palette reduction is only used when visual detail can be preserved.

🔒 Private by design: your photos stay in this browser. Works on desktop and mobile. No account required.

What does this tool do?

Made by Yong compresses PNG, JPG, and WebP images to a maximum size you choose in KB, directly in your browser. It prioritizes visual quality rather than silently producing a blurry file.

Useful for

Website uploads, forms with a maximum file size, screenshots, and everyday photo compression.

What to know before using it

  • JPG and WebP preserve a minimum quality threshold; a very small KB limit may be impossible at the original resolution.
  • PNG palette reduction is attempted only for opaque images and is rejected when the color difference is too large. Review fine text yourself.
  • Reducing pixel dimensions to hit the target is optional and off by default. Animated GIF output is not supported.

How to compress an image to a specific KB size

  1. 1Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP file by browsing, dropping, or pasting a screenshot.
  2. 2Enter a maximum size in KB and select the desired output format. Choose “Keep original format” to preserve the file type.
  3. 3Select Process images. We keep visual quality above your chosen minimum. If the target is too small, you can optionally allow a smaller resolution rather than making the image blurry.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compress a picture without uploading it?

Yes. Processing runs in your browser using local image APIs. Your picture is not sent to our servers.

Does it keep the original image resolution?

Yes, by default. The original dimensions stay intact unless you explicitly select Allow smaller dimensions. You can also use the separate Resize tool.

Why can a small KB target fail?

A tiny size limit can require significant quality loss. We stop before that happens; you can increase the limit or opt into a smaller resolution. We never silently switch formats.

Can I compress several pictures at once?

Yes. Choose up to 30 supported images, process them, and download successful results individually or together in a ZIP file.

Made to solve real image problems

I often need to resize, compress, or convert images for everyday tasks. I also prefer not to upload private photos and documents just to change their size. So I built these simple tools to do the job right in the browser, on your own device.
